એસિટાઇલ સિસ્ટિન પેરાસિટામોલના અત્યાધિક ડોઝ દરમિયાન ઉત્પન્ન થતા રસાયણો (મેટાબોલાઇટ) સામે કામ કરે છે. ફેફસાંના રોગોમાં આ મ્યૂકસ એતલે કે કફને પાતળો કરવામાં મદદ કરે છે જેનાથી ફેફસામાં કફને સાફ કરવામાં મદદ મળે છે.
