એલિલેસ્ટ્રેનોલ એક કુત્રિમ પ્રોજેસ્ટ્રોન વ્યુત્પન્ન છે. આ ગર્ભમાં પ્રોજેસ્ટેરન હોર્મોનના સ્ત્રાવને વધારી અને ને શરીરના ગર્ભમાં પ્રોજેસ્ટેરોનના સંશ્લેષણને ઉત્તેજીત કરે છે આ રીતે ગર્ભપાતના જોખમને ટાળી નાખે છે.
