How diphtheria toxoid + haemophilus type b conjugate vaccine + hepatitis b vaccine (rdna) + pertussis toxoid + poliomyelitis virus type 1 + poliomyelitis virus type 2 + poliomyelitis virus type 3 + tetanus toxoid works

This works by ‘teaching’ the immune system (the body’s natural defenses) how to defend itself against infections such as diphtheria, haemophilus type B, hepatitis B, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis virus type 1-3. This contains small quantities of materials derived from the viruses and bacteria it defends against. These materials are inactivated so they do not cause any disease. When this vaccine is given to a person, the immune system recognises the viruses and bacteria as ‘foreign’ and makes antibodies against them. The immune system will produce antibodies when the person is naturally exposed to the viruses or bacteria. This helps protect against the diseases that these viruses and bacteria cause.
