  • Mupirocin is prescribed for bacterial skin infections like impetigo.
  • Clean and dry the affected area, and apply the medicine at least 3 times a day. A dressing can be applied over the treated area if needed.
  • Avoid getting it in the eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas.
  • It can cause slight irritation at the application site. Let your doctor know if the irritation does not go away.
  • If your skin condition does not improve within 3 to 5 days, consult your doctor.

Q. For how long do I need to use Muroci Cream?

Q. How should I use Muroci Cream?
Follow the directions given by your doctor carefully. Wash your hands before applying the Muroci Cream. Apply the medicine to the infected area of the skin 2-3 times daily or as told by your doctor. You can cover the treated area with a dressing or leave it open as per your doctor’s advice.
Q. Can I apply Muroci Cream on an open wound?
Avoid using the Muroci Cream for large open wounds. Consult your doctor on how to use it and follow all instructions for maximum benefits.
Q. After I applied Muroci Cream, I felt burning and stinging sensations. Should I stop using it?
Burning sensation is a common side effect of applying Muroci Cream. However, stinging is uncommon. It does not last long and will disappear after sometime. Do not stop using Muroci Cream because of these mild side effects. If you have any concerns consult your doctor.
Q. In which areas of the skin should I avoid using Muroci Cream?
Muroci Cream should not be used to treat infections in or near the eyes, nostrils, or mouth. If this medicine accidentally enters your eyes, wash your eyes thoroughly with water. In case you have tubes inserted in your body for the delivery of fluids or medicines (cannula), do not use this medicine to treat the skin near that area.
Q. What should prompt me to stop using Muroci Cream?
Wash off the medicine immediately if you get a raised and itchy rash, cough, shortness of breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing, fainting, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or other parts of the body. These may be signs of severe allergic reactions. You should immediately stop using Muroci Cream and consult your doctor. Though unlikely, if you get abdominal cramps and diarrhea, you should stop Muroci Cream immediately and consult your doctor.
