Lafadin tablet uses

{med_name} is used in the treatment of heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux) and peptic ulcer disease.

How lafadin tablet works

Lafadin 10mg Tablet blocks specific receptors (H2 receptors) on the lining of the stomach that stimulate acid production. It also increases the secretions (mucin) inside the stomach. This way, Lafadin 10mg Tablet decreases acid production in the stomach and helps in healing the ulcers of the stomach and small intestine. Additionally, it reduces discomfort such as heartburn and gives relief from acid-related indigestion.

  • Take Lafutidine before going to bed if you are taking this medicine once a day. It is very effective in controlling stomach acid that is released when you are asleep.
  • If you are also taking other medications to treat acidity (e.g., antacid), take them 2 hours before or after taking Lafutidine.
  • Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion.
  • Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking Lafutidine for 2 weeks as you may be suffering from some other problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney disease as dose of your medicine may need to be adjusted.
  • Do not stop taking the medication without talking to your doctor.

Lafadin 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. It can be taken once daily before bedtime or twice daily in the morning and before bedtime, as recommended.

If you take Lafadin 10mg Tablet orally, the effect usually begins within one hour. The maximum effect is generally reached within one to three hours of taking it. However, it depends upon the dose. The action of the medicine lasts for about 10 to 12 hours.
Q. What is the difference between Lafadin 10mg Tablet and Omeprazole?
Lafadin 10mg Tablet and Omeprazole belong to different group of medicines. While Lafadin 10mg Tablet belongs to histamine H2 antagonists group, Omeprazole belongs to proton pump inhibitors group. Eat slowly and chew your food carefully. Try not to rush at meal times. You should stop or cut down on smoking.

There is limited data available on whether Lafadin 10mg Tablet can be used for a long term or not, but it is a relatively safe medicine. You should take it for the duration advised by your doctor.
