Eliquis 5mg Tablet is a novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC) that helps prevent blood clot formation. It works by directly and selectively inhibiting factor Xa, an important clotting factor involved in thrombin generation. It reduces thrombin formation and helps prevent the development and spread of blood clots.

In rare cases, people who receive spinal or epidural anesthesia or undergo a spinal puncture while taking this medicine may develop a blood clot around the spine, which can cause serious complications.
