  • You have been prescribed Rifaximin for the treatment of infectious diarrhea.
  • It should only be taken for a maximum of three days. If your symptoms do not improve after three days, inform your doctor. Do not take a second course of Rifaximin.
  • It may cause reddish discoloration of urine. This is normal and harmless.
  • Stop taking Rifaximin and inform your doctor if your diarrhoea gets worse or starts to contain blood or mucus.
  • Finish the full course of the medication, even if you feel better. Stopping the course early increases the risk of coming back of the infection.
