Fungal diastase is a starch hydrolysing or amylolytic enzyme that may help to break down the starch into simple sugars (maltose) for easy digestion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme (protein-digesting) that may help to break down larger protein molecules into smaller proteins (amino acids).
