Bos Medicare Surgical Mercurial Blood Pressure Monitor
A mercury sphygmomanometer is a device that uses a column of mercury to measure blood pressure. It's considered the gold standard for blood pressure measurement and is often used in clinical trials and for evaluating high-risk individuals. A mercury sphygmomanometer consists of an inflatable rubber cuff, a bulb to inflate the cuff, a valve to release pressure, and a stethoscope to listen to blood flow. It uses millimetres of mercury (mmHg) as the universal unit for recording blood pressure.
Uses:
- Ideal for accurate and reliable blood pressure measurements in clinical settings
Product Specifications and Features:
- Accuracy: When well-maintained, mercury sphygmomanometers offer accurate blood pressure measurements. They don't require readjustments or recalibrations
- Durability: Mercury sphygmomanometers are simple, durable medical devices that can last a lifetime if used properly
- Reference technique: Mercury sphygmomanometers are considered the "gold standard" reference technique for measuring blood pressure. They can also be used to validate other methods for measuring blood pressure
- Ease of use: Mercury sphygmomanometers are easy to use
Directions For Use:
- Put the cuff on your bare upper arm, one inch above your elbow
- Pull the cuff tight enough so that you can only fit two fingertips under the top edge
- Make sure your skin doesn't pinch when the cuff inflates
- Connect the cuff tubing to the sphygmo-manometer tubing and secure
- Rest your arm on a flat surface at chest height
- Inflate the cuff rapidly to 180 mmHg
- Release the air from the cuff at a moderate rate of about 3 mm per second
- Listen for a knocking sound with the stethoscope. The first knocking sound represents the systolic blood pressure
- Listen for when the pulse disappears. This signifies the diastolic pressure
To clean a mercury sphygmomanometer, you can:
