Easy Administration Guide: 

Step 1: Wash Your Hands
Use soap and water, then dry with a clean towel to help prevent infection.

Step 2: Choose the Injection Site
Common sites for subcutaneous injections include:

  • Abdomen (at least 2 inches away from the belly button)

  • Thigh (front or outer part)

  • Back of the upper arm (if someone else is helping)

  • Rotate your injection site each time to avoid irritation

Step 3: Clean the Area
Use an alcohol swab to clean the chosen site. Let it dry completely.

Step 4: Prepare the Injection
Draw the correct dose from the vial using the sterile technique.

Step 5: Pinch & Inject

  • Gently pinch a fold of skin between the thumb and fingers

  • Hold the needle/pen like a dart at a 45° to 90° angle

  • Insert the needle quickly and smoothly

  • Push the plunger/button steadily to inject the medication

Step 6: Withdraw & Apply Pressure

  • Remove the needle quickly and safely

  • Use a cotton ball or gauze to apply gentle pressure for a few seconds

Step 7: Dispose Safely
Place the used needle/pen into a sharps disposal container immediately.
