Ziprasidone is used in the treatment of schizophrenia and mania.

How ziprasidone works

Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic. It works by modulating the action of certain chemical messengers in the brain that affect thoughts.

Vomiting, Sleepiness, Abnormal vision, Akathisia (inability to stay still), Dizziness, Respiratory tract infection, Abdominal pain, Extrapyramidal symptoms, Fever, Increased liver enzymes, Facial swelling, Photosensitivity, Decreased body temperature, Tachycardia, Postural hypotension (low blood pressure), Decreased appetite, Muscle pain, Agitation, Breathlessness, Slow heart rate, Difficulty in swallowing, Anemia (low number of red blood cells), Ecchymosis (discoloration of the skin resulting from bleeding underneath), High white blood cell count, Increased white blood cell count (eosinophils), Swelling of lymph nodes, Pneumonia, Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome, Thyroid disorders
