- Inform your doctor if you develop shortness of breath during the treatment with Treosulfan.
- Use contraceptives, and do not conceive a child (get pregnant) while taking this medicine. Barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms, should be used during therapy and six months after treatment.
- You may be at risk of infection, so try to avoid crowds or people with colds, and immediately report fever or any other signs of infection to your health care provider.
- Avoid activities that may cause injury and bleeding during your treatment.
- Do not receive any kind of immunization or vaccination (especially live vaccines) without your doctor’s approval while taking Treosulfan.
- To reduce nausea, take anti-nausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals.
- Drink more fluids than usual for up to 24 hours after your treatment unless instructed otherwise.
- Swelling of the gums may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, and the application of ice may give relief.

You can continue with your normal diet unless your doctor tells you otherwise. However, it is advisable to sip water regularly to prevent dehydration, eat small, simple but nourishing snacks every few hours rather than large meals, and suck on hard candy or popsicles to prevent nausea and vomiting.
