Tamsulosin+Tolterodine is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

How tamsulosin + tolterodine works

This is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Tolterodine which relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker while Tolterodine is an antimuscarinic. They work by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily. This prevents frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.

Dryness in mouth, Blurred vision, Constipation, Ejaculation disorder, Nausea, Dry eye, Urinary retention, Headache, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Dizziness, Abdominal pain, Chest pain, Fatigue, Influenza, Weight gain, Joint pain, Vertigo, General discomfort, Drowsiness, Decreased libido, Tachycardia, Pharyngitis, Prolonged QT interval, Lower limb edema, Depression, Priapism, Red spots or bumps, Drug eruptions

  • Tamsulosin + Tolterodine helps in relieving symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It does not decrease the size of prostate.
  • t also treats the symptoms of an overactive bladder by lowering the urge to urinate and controlling urination.
  • Take it with food, preferably at the same times each day.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and carbonated drinks as they can worsen your symptoms.
  • Dry mouth, dry eyes, and constipation may occur as a side effect. Maintain good oral hygiene, drink water frequently, chew sugarless gum, and wear contact lenses with caution.
  • Tamsulosin + Tolterodine may cause dizziness or blurring of vision. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
