Sodium Monofluorophosphate works by making the teeth stronger and preventing decay (cavity) caused by bacteria. Triclosan kills the harmful bacteria and fungi by attacking their outer covering. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener which, unlike sugar, is not converted to acids that cause tooth decay. This reduces the number of decay-causing bacteria in the mouth.
