How sevoflurane works

Sevoflurane is a general anaesthetic. It works by causing reversible loss of consciousness. This allows surgical procedures to be carried out without pain and distress.

Common side effects of sevoflurane

Vomiting, Nausea, Confusion, Agitation, High blood pressure, Slow heart rate, Apnea (absence of breathing), Hypotension (low blood pressure), Cough, Salivary hypersecretion, Sleepiness, Dizziness, Tachycardia, Respiratory disorder, Vocal cord spasms, Chills, Fever, Decreased white blood cell count (lymphocytes), Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), Hypoxia (decreased oxygen level in blood), Asthma, Urinary retention, Glycosuria, Anaphylactic reaction, Liver dysfunction, Seizure, Malignant hyperthermia (increased body temperature), Cardiac arrest
