How recombinant human epidermal growth factor + chlorhexidine gluconate + silver sulfadiazine works

This is a combination of three medicines: Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor, Chlorhexidine Gluconate and Silver Sulfadiazine which treat diabetic foot ulcer. Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor works by releasing a growth factor that causes skin regeneration in diabetic foot ulcer. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic and disinfectant which effectively cleans out the ulcer surface to prevent infection. Silver Sulfadiazine is an antibiotic. It stops bacteria from producing folic acid, a vitamin required for bacterial multiplication.

  • Look for cuts, sores, burns, and redness while examining your feet.
  • Apply moisturizer to prevent skin cracking. However, avoid applying it between the toes, as this can cause the skin to become too moist leading to an infection.
  • Have a healthy diet and try to keep your blood sugar level as near normal as possible.
  • Seek medical help if your foot infection doesn't improve in a day or two, or becomes significantly worse.
