Procainamide is used in the treatment of Arrhythmia.

How procainamide works

Procainamide is an anti-arrhythmic medication. It regulates heart beat by blocking abnormal electrical signals in the heart.

Dizziness, Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Fever, Nausea, Diarrhea, Weakness, Hypotension (low blood pressure), Ventricular fibrillation, Joint pain, Pleural pain, Pleural effusion, Pericarditis, Chills, Muscle pain, Hematological disorder, Decreased appetite, Bitter taste, Decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), Low blood platelets, Hemolytic anemia, Depression, Psychosis, Agranulocytosis (deficiency of granulocytes in the blood), Angioneurotic edema, Urticaria, Itching, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Maculopapular rash, Increased transaminase level in blood, Liver failure

  • Inform your doctor if you experience slow or fast heart rate, chest pain, shortness of breath.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
  • Do not stop taking medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.
