How milk of magnesia + liquid paraffin works

This is a combination of two laxatives (stool softeners): Milk of magnesia and liquid paraffin, which relieves constipation. Milk of magnesia works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, while liquid paraffin has lubricant properties which help retain water and fat in the stools. Together, they make the stool soft and slippery making it easier to pass.
