How methotrexate + folic acid works

This is a combination of two medicines: Methotrexate and Folic Acid. Methotrexate is an anticancer and immunosuppressive medication. It works in cancer by slowing the growth of cancer cells by blocking building blocks that cancer cells need to grow. It also works in autoimmune disease by decreasing the activity of body's immune system and prevents the body from attacking itself. Folic Acid, a form of vitamin B is added to prevent Folic Acid deficiency caused by Methotrexate.

Common side effects of methotrexate + folic acid

Mouth sore, Nausea, Vomiting, Upset stomach, Weakness, Tiredness, Fever, Dizziness, Decreased white blood cell count, Increased risk of infection
