Iguratimod is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
How iguratimod works
Iguratimod is a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD). It works by improving abnormal immunological response and suppressing the production of substances that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) in rheumatoid arthritis.
Common side effects of iguratimod
Diarrhea, Nausea, Rash, Abdominal pain, Vomiting, Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth), Photosensitivity, Decreased appetite, Itching, Hives, Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), Increased aspartate aminotransferase, Increased alanine aminotransferase, Aplastic anemia, Shortness of breath, Nosebleeds, Bleeding gums, Agranulocytosis (deficiency of granulocytes in the blood), Decreased white blood cell count (lymphocytes), Interstitial pneumonia
