How gemcitabine works

Gemcitabine interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks. It prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.

Common side effects of gemcitabine

Nausea, Vomiting, Breathlessness, Anemia (low number of red blood cells), Blood in urine, Headache, Fever, Diarrhea, Abnormal liver function tests, Myelosuppression, Rash, Muscle pain, Decreased appetite, Injection-site reactions, Bronchospasm, Liver toxicity, Sepsis, Peripheral edema, Hemolytic uremic syndrome, Anaphylactic reaction, Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, Capillary leak syndrome
