Furazolidone + metronidazole + dicyclomine uses

Furazolidone+Metronidazole+Dicyclomine is used in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery.

How furazolidone + metronidazole + dicyclomine works

This is a combination of three medicines: furazolidone, metronidazole and dicyclomine which treats diarrhea. Furazolidone and metronidazole are antibiotics which works by stopping the growth of bacteria and other diarrhea causing microorganisms. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic which works by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). By doing this, it relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.

Common side effects of furazolidone + metronidazole + dicyclomine

Nausea, Metallic taste, Dryness in mouth, Sleepiness, Weakness, Dizziness, Headache, Blurred vision, Nervousness, Dark colored urine

  • Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • It may cause dizziness. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how Furazolidone + Metronidazole + Dicyclomine affects you.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
