How clotrimazole + selenium works
This is a combination of two medicines: Clotrimazole and Selenium. Clotrimazole works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infection, and reducing their numbers. This treats your infection. Selenium is a mineral that reduces damage caused to the skin due to infection, decreases flaking or scaling of the skin and helps in formation of new skin.

- Clotrimazole + Selenium must be applied as a thin layer on the affected area as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not use this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
- Before each application, wash the affected area with soap and water and dry well.
- Avoid getting it in the eyes, mouth or nose. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas.
- Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

Clotrimazole+Selenium is an antifungal medicine. It is used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm (fungal skin infection that causes a red scaly rash on different parts of the body), athlete’s foot (fungal infection of the skin on the feet and between the toes), fungal nappy rash and fungal sweat rash. It is also used to relieve irritation of the vulva (external thrush) and irritation occurring at the end of the penis, which may be associated with thrush.

Clotrimazole+Selenium is effective against Trichophyton species which cause ringworm infection, athlete’s foot and jock itch (fungal infection of the skin in the groin or buttocks). It is also effective against yeast, known as Clotrimazole+Selenium, which commonly causes vaginal thrush (infection caused by an overgrowth of yeast called candida albicans).
