Cisapride+Methylpolysiloxane is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux).

How cisapride + methylpolysiloxane works

This is a combination of two medicines: Cisapride and Methylpolysiloxane. Cisapride is a prokinetic which facilitates the movement of intestines, thereby increasing the frequency of bowel movements, softening stools, and reducing abdominal pain/discomfort. Methylpolysiloxane is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

  • Cisapride + Methylpolysiloxane is prescribed to get relief from acidity, heartburn and other discomfort associated with acid reflux.
  • Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion.
  • Do not take other indigestion remedies (antacids) without consulting your doctor.
  • Incorporate the following lifestyle changes in order to prevent acidity:
    1. Make sure you eat regular meals and drink plenty of water.
    2. Avoid spicy and fatty fried food.
    3. Lose weight if you are obese.
    4. If you are a smoker, consider giving up.
    5. Don't drink too much alcohol.
