Bacitracin+Lidocaine+Neomycin+Polymyxin B is used in the treatment of bacterial skin infections.

How bacitracin + lidocaine + neomycin + polymyxin b works

This is a combination of four medicines: Bacitracin, Lidocaine, Neomycin, and Polymyxin B. Bacitracin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain thereby decreasing the sensation of pain and irritation in the skin. Neomycin stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Polymyxin B kills bacteria by destroying the bacterial cell membrane.

  • Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Bacitracin + Lidocaine + Neomycin + Polymyxin B.
  • Apply it as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by an infection.
  • It may cause minor burning, stinging or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
  • It is advisable not to touch or scratch the infected area as it can worsen the situation.
