How alprazolam + melatonin works

This is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and melatonin, which helps you sleep. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain and induces sleep. Melatonin is a natural hormone which helps to regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
