Alpelisib works to treat cancer by blocking the signals that cause cancer cells to multiply, which helps to stop the spread of cancer cells.

Expert advice for Alpelisib

  • After starting your treatment with Alpelisib, you may be at risk of infection, so try to avoid crowds or people with colds. Report fever or any other signs of infection immediately to your doctor.
  • Drink at least two to three-quarter fluid every 24 hours, unless you are instructed otherwise.
  • To reduce nausea, take antinausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice any signs or symptoms of allergic reactions, like rash or shortness of breath, after taking Alpelisib.
  • Monitor your sugar levels at intervals and report to your doctor if they are abnormally high. The doctor will be able to advise more on this.
  • Eat foods that may help reduce diarrhea and take adequate rest.
  • Use a soft toothbrush and rinse your mouth at least 3 times a day with saline water to help treat/prevent mouth sores.
