Uses

Repaglinide is used for the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise and sometimes with other drugs for diabetes like metformin.

Repaglinide is an anti-diabetic medication. It increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas which prevents blood glucose from rising very high after meals.

Uses

Voglibose is used to reduce high post meal glucose level in diabetes mellitus in patients who have been using other diabetic medications.

How it works

Voglibose is an anti-diabetic medicine. It inhibits the intestinal enzymes responsible for breaking complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents blood glucose levels from rising very high immediately after meals.

Q. Can I take alcohol while I am taking Repaglinide?
No, you should avoid alcohol while taking Repaglinide since alcohol interferes with the working of Repaglinide. You may experience signs and symptoms of low blood sugar levels which include weakness, shakiness, cold sweat, cool pale skin, rapid heartbeat, tremors, extreme hunger, dizziness, headache and anxiety.

No, you should not breastfeed your baby because if Repaglinide passes in breast milk, your baby may experience low blood sugar levels which is harmful for your baby. Ask your doctor for advice.

Q. Does Voglibose cause weight loss?
There is evidence that normal doses of Voglibose does not cause significant weight loss. However, very high doses of this medicine can affect the absorption of food, thereby causing weight loss. Do not take this medication for weight loss as it is not approved for treatment of obesity. Do consult your doctor before starting this medication.
Q. How should you take Voglibose?
Voglibose is usually prescribed to be taken orally three times daily immediately before each meal. Voglibose may be given along with a controlled diet. However, in case Voglibose does not work alone, it may be given along with a proper diet and other antidiabetic medicines. Your doctor may further increase your doses if the given doses do not provide sufficient control over the blood sugar levels. Do not take this medication by yourself and consult your doctor before starting this medication.
