Step-UP Capsule may be taken with or without food.

CAUTION
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine. Step-UP Capsule may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with alcohol.
UNSAFE
Step-UP Capsule is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies do not indicate harmful effects. However, there are limited human studies.
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Step-UP Capsule may be safe to use during breastfeeding. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Unless Step-UP Capsule is used to lower the prolactin levels in the mother, it should be avoided as it might interfere with breastfeeding.

Uses

Cyproheptadine is used as allergic conditions and appetite stimulant.

How it works

Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine medication. It blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation, congestion, itching, and other allergic reactions. Due to constant increased energy intake and stimulation of growth hormone secretion, it stimulates the appetite too.

Common side effects

Dizziness, Headache, Nervousness, Sedation, Impaired coordination, Confusion, Restlessness, Excitation, Tremors, Irritability, Rash, Edema (swelling), Urticaria, Acute labyrinthitis (inflammation of inner ear), Anticholinergic effects, Tachycardia, Hemolytic anemia, Cholestasis, Liver failure, Hepatitis (viral infection of liver), Fatigue, Increased appetite, Weight gain, Anaphylactic shock, Early menstrual periods, Bronchiectasis
