Mirabegron(50mg)

Uses

Mirabegron is used in the treatment of Overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms. OAB is a collection of urinary symptoms, including frequent urination, urgent need to urinate, and inability to control urination.

How it works

Mirabegron is a beta 3-receptor agonist. It works by activating the receptor in the bladder, causing the bladder muscles to relax. It prevents frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.

Uses

Solifenacin is an antimuscarinic. It works by relaxing muscles of the urinary bladder to prevent frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.

Q. Can I stop taking Mirabegron if I start feeling better?
No, do not stop taking Mirabegron even if you start feeling better. This medicine does not cure overactive bladder but relieves the symptoms of urgency, frequency and incontinence (unable to control when you empty your bladder). Stopping treatment may result in a recurrence of the symptoms of overactive bladder.
Q. Does Mirabegron cause loss of sleep?
No, Mirabegron does not affect your sleep. However, if you are having any problems related to your sleep, talk to your doctor.

It is best to avoid the use of Mirabegron in children because its effectiveness and side effects in children (age < 18 years) have not been studied yet.
Q. Can I take Mirabegron off and on?
No, you need to take it daily as directed by your doctor since it controls your condition and does not cure it. Your bladder takes time to adapt to the medicine, so if you take it off and on, you will not get the desired benefits and your symptoms will recur.
Q. Does Mirabegron affect the kidneys?
Infection of kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder or urethra is a common side effect of Mirabegron but does not affect everyone. Very few patients have reported of developing renal stones and bladder pain with the use of Mirabegron. Also, patients with compromised kidney function should be careful while using Mirabegron and report any unwanted symptoms related to kidneys to the consulting doctor.
Q. Do I need to be careful while taking Mirabegron if I am taking medicines to control my blood pressure?
Yes, you need to be careful while taking Mirabegron if you have high blood pressure. Keep a regular check on your blood pressure since Mirabegron can cause an increase in blood pressure in some people. It should not be used in patients with severe uncontrolled hypertension.
Q. What if I accidentally take more than the required dose of Mirabegron?
You should seek urgent medical attention even if do not feel any discomfort. Overdose of Mirabegron may increase your pulse rate and blood pressure. As a result of this, you may experience severe headache, palpitations, chest pain and fatigue.

Solifenacin

Q. When should Solifenacin be taken?
Solifenacin should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Generally, it is recommended that the medicine should be taken once daily, preferably at the same time. It can be taken with or without food.
Q. Does Solifenacin cause dementia?
In rare cases, Solifenacin may cause confusion and hallucinations (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist) as side effects. It may also cause delirium in very few people (disturbed state of mind characterized by restlessness, illusions, and incoherence). Though there are studies which support that Solifenacin may cause dementia, it is still to be confirmed.
Q. What is overactive bladder?
Overactive bladder is a condition where the nerve signals coming from the brain directs your bladder to empty even when it is not full. Consequently, this may affect a person’s ability to control bladder contractions. Rapid uncontrollable contractions cause symptoms of overactive bladder which are urinary frequency, urinary urgency, and urinary incontinence (leakage).

Q. Do I need to take Solifenacin everyday?
Yes, Solifenacin needs to be taken once daily as advised by your doctor. You should not take it only when the symptoms are bothersome as it will not work properly. Furthermore, if you forget to take a dose, continue taking it next day as per the prescribed schedule. Additionally, it is advised to not take 2 doses on the same day.
Q. Does Solifenacin start working right away?
Solifenacin may start showing improvement in symptoms of overactive bladder within a week. However, it may take up to 4 weeks to show maximum benefits. This may vary from person to person. Do not stop taking it even if considerable improvement is not observed, but consult with the doctor.
