  • Clobetasol is used to treat redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions.
  • It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
  • Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
  • Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

No, Clobsave 0.5% Ointment should not be used for a long time. The doctor generally prescribes it for 2 consecutive weeks only. However, the treatment can be longer for chronic (long-term) inflammatory conditions. Consult your physician before using this medication.
Q. Does Clobsave 0.5% Ointment cause severe skin reactions?
Severe skin reactions are quite rare with Clobsave 0.5% Ointment. Clobsave 0.5% Ointment is an anti-inflammatory drug which is used to treat skin diseases, skin reactions and eczemas. However, skin reactions can occur in a person who is hypersensitive to Clobsave 0.5% Ointment. It is important to leave the affected area open after applying Clobsave 0.5% Ointment as using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressing) can lead to skin reactions. The medicine may not itself cause a reaction but the added excipients with the medications can lead to a reaction in some cases. Inform your doctor immediately in case you encounter any skin reactions.
Q. Can Clobsave 0.5% Ointment be used on the face?
No, Clobsave 0.5% Ointment should not be used on the face. In addition to this, Clobsave 0.5% Ointment should also not be used on the axillae (armpits), groin, and if there is atrophy (wasting away of tissues) at the treatment site. In certain circumstances, it can be exceptionally considered to be used by doctors. It should be used only after consultation with your physician and if possible, the application on the face should be limited to a maximum of 5 days.

Q. Can Clobsave 0.5% Ointment be applied to children?
Clobsave 0.5% Ointment is not recommended for use in children less than 1 year of age. It is also not recommended for use in older children and adolescents as the side effects are more common in them. In the pediatric population, there is an increased risk of suppression of the immune system which may make the child prone to other diseases and atrophic changes, hence it is not recommended. Still, in some rare cases, the doctor may recommend this medicine, but the treatment is usually limited to 5 days and the therapy is reviewed weekly.
Q. Can we use Clobsave 0.5% Ointment in infections?
Clobsave 0.5% Ointment is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent. It is a steroid medication. It should not be used in infections as being a corticosteroid, it suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of infections. Bacterial infections are prone to worsen if the infection is covered with a dressing after using Clobsave 0.5% Ointment. In case the inflammatory lesions get infected or there is any spread of infection, consult your doctor immediately. The doctor will withdraw the use of Clobsave 0.5% Ointment and provide appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
Q. Can I stop taking Clobsave 0.5% Ointment when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop taking Clobsave 0.5% Ointment and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before your treatment is complete. Stopping Clobsave 0.5% Ointment before your treatment is completed can bring back your symptoms.
