Bambuterol
Q. How does Bambuterol work?
Bambuterol works by widening the air passages in your lungs so that air can flow into your lungs more freely. For people with asthma, Bambuterol helps to relieve symptoms such as coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath, particularly at night.
Q. How should I take Bambuterol?
Bambuterol should be taken in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Bambuterol can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to reduce the chances of a missed dose. However, it is advisable to take Bambuterol just before bedtime with a glass of water.
Q. What if I forget to take a dose of Bambuterol?
If you forget a dose of Bambuterol, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take it in the regular schedule instead of taking the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.
Montelukast
Q. Why do you have to take Montelukast at night?
Usually, it is recommended to take Montelukast in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Montelukast is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.
