Linezolid(200mg)

Uses

Linezolid is used in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of lungs (Pneumonia), skin & soft tissues.

How it works

Linezolid is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Headache, Nausea, Decreased blood cells (red cells, white cells, and platelets), Low blood platelets, Anemia (low number of red blood cells), Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Gastrointestinal disturbance, Increased liver enzymes, Rash, Candidiasis, Decreased sodium level in blood, Blurred vision, Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), Urticaria, Dermatitis, Increased creatinine level in blood, Fatigue, Decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils), Antibiotic-associated colitis

  • Linezolid treats serious infections caused by certain types of bacteria.
  • Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.

Q. What foods should I avoid while taking Linezolid?
You should avoid taking large quantities of food that contain high tyramine in it. Foods that are fermented, cured, aged or spoiled contain high amount of tyramine e.g cheese, red wine, pickle, over ripe fruits etc. Consuming tyramine while taking Linezolid can result in elevation of blood pressure, which may result in an emergency situation.
