Uses

Terbutaline is used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

How it works

Terbutaline is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens airways. This makes breathing easier.

Acebrophylline(50mg)

Uses

Acebrophylline is used in the treatment and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

How it works

Acebrophylline is a mucolytic and bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles of the airways and also thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to breathe.

Terbutaline should be taken in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Terbutaline can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to reduce the chances of a missed dose.
Q. What if I forget to take a dose of Terbutaline?
If you forget a dose of Terbutaline, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose on the prescribed time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one as this may increase the chances of developing side effects.

Taking a higher than the recommended dose of Terbutaline may cause seizures, chest pain, nervousness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness and lack of energy. High doses of Terbutaline may also cause fast, irregular or pounding heartbeat, uncontrollable shaking of any part of the body, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. In any such case, seek immediate medical attention.

Acebrophylline should be avoided in patients who are allergic to ambroxol, Acebrophylline, or theophylline. Along with that, patients suffering from low blood pressure, irregular heart beats or rhythm or history of heart attack, liver disease or kidney disorder should avoid taking Acebrophylline.
Q. How should Acebrophylline be taken?
Acebrophylline should be taken strictly as advised by the doctor. To avoid an upset stomach it should be taken with food.
Q. Is it okay to take furosemide along with Acebrophylline?
One should take proper caution if you are taking furosemide along with Acebrophylline. This is because the combined use of these medicines may decrease the levels of potassium. Hence, regular monitoring of potassium levels is required.

If you are taking birth control pills, dose of Acebrophylline need to be reduced as birth control pills may interfere with clearance of Acebrophylline, increasing its levels and chances of side effects.

Q. Can I take Guaifenesin with phenylephrine, ibuprofen, amoxicillin, and paracetamol (acetaminophen)?
There are no known drug interactions between phenylephrine, ibuprofen, amoxicillin, and paracetamol (acetaminophen) and Guaifenesin. However, consult your doctor about all medications currently taken before starting and while on Guaifenesin.
Q. Can I take Guaifenesin with Sudafed (pseudoephedrine-decongestant preparation) and Dayquil (OTC cold and cough preparation), Benadryl, benzonatate?
Guaifenesin can be taken with other cold and cough preparation including Sudafed, Dayquil, Benadryl, and benzonatate. However, other formulations containing guaifenesin must be avoided to avoid a double dose. Also, Guaifenesin should not be combined with cough suppressants in the treatment of cough since the combination would not be logical and you may be exposed to unnecessary side effects.
