Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

DESCRIPTION

The buildup of fat in the liver that is not caused by alcohol is termed non-alcoholic fatty liver. It can lead to inflammation of liver and can progress to more serious conditions like cirrhosis and liver failure. It is more common in people who have obesity, type 2 diabetes and high levels of fats in the blood. It could also be due to effects of certain medications like corticosteroids, certain cancer drugs, etc.
