Growth failure due to growth hormone deficiency

DESCRIPTION

Growth hormone deficiency can cause growth failure leading to short stature in children. In adults it may cause decreased muscle mass and bone strength. The condition can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired (develop later in life). Most times there is no readily identifiable cause (idiopathic GHD). In other cases, the causes include genes, infection, radiation, CNS tumors and brain injury.
