Decreased magnesium levels in blood

DESCRIPTION

Decreased magnesium levels is a condition in which the amount of magnesium in the blood is lower than normal. The medical name for this condition is hypomagnesemia (hypo means less). Magnesium is required in the body for the myriad of functions, including carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism, stoarge, transfer, or use of energy and even normal cell membrane functioning. It is also known to lower blood pressure. A low magnesium levels in blood can cause cramps and weakness in muscles, fatigue, numbness, convulsions and confusion. Very severely low levels can even cause cardiac arrest.
