Bad odor from mouth

DESCRIPTION

Bad odor from mouth or bad breath is any foul smell emitting from mouth while speaking or even felt generally. The medical name for bad odor from mouth is halitosis. The most common cause of this bad odor is poor oral hygiene and gum problems. Plaque and calculus deposition entraps food particles and over a time, leads to bad breath. Eating strong-smelling foods, like onion, garlic may also result in bad odor. Your bad breath may also be caused due to an underlying systemic condition or medications. Maintaining proper oral hygiene, brushing two times a day, using a mint flavored toothpaste to mask the smell, and tongue scrapping are handy tips to get rid of this. Visit your dentist at least every 6 months for an oral check-up.
